Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Quasiparticle relaxation in optically excited high-Q superconducting resonators

open access: yes, 2008
The quasiparticle relaxation time in superconducting films has been measured as a function of temperature using the response of the complex conductivity to photon flux.

General decay of solutions for a von Karman plate system with general type of relaxation functions on the boundary

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this paper, we investigate a von Karman plate system with general type of relaxation functions on the boundary. We derive the general decay rate result without requiring the assumption that the initial value $ w_0 \equiv 0 $ on the boundary, using the

Thermodynamic phase plane analysis of ventricular contraction and relaxation

open access: yesBioMedical Engineering OnLine, 2004
Background Ventricular function has conventionally been characterized using indexes of systolic (contractile) or diastolic (relaxation/stiffness) function.

On the relaxation of nonconvex superficial integral functionals

open access: yesJournal de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées, 2000
We present a new approach to the variational relaxation of functionals $F:D(\mathbb{R}^N;\mathbb{R}^m)\to[0,\infty[$ of the type:$$F(v):=\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}W(\nabla v(x))d\mu(x),$$where $W:\mathbb{R}^{mN}\to[0,\infty[$ is a continuous function with growth conditions of order $p\geq 1$ but not necessarily convex. We essentially study the case when $\mu$

Simulation of Inhomogeneous Refractive Index Fields Induced by Hot Tailored Forming Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a simulation model for simulating inhomogeneous refractive index fields (IRIF) in hot‐forged components, accounting for thermal influences and complex geometries. Through this simulation, a priori knowledge about the propagation of the IRIF can be obtained, allowing for the positioning of the component or an optical measurement ...

Creep and relaxation responses of fly ash concrete: Linear and nonlinear cases

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
The application of reinforced concrete has been used in various engineering and architecture fields. Stress relaxation and creep are two crucial time-dependent behaviours of concrete. The influence of two behaviours is closely related to the service life

Correlation between Microstructure and Rheological Properties of Broad Molecular Weight Distribution High Density Polyethylenes [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2015
In this article, the correlation between molecular microstructure and rheological behavior for three different grades of high density polyethylene with broad molecular weight distribution have been investigated.

Static and Dynamic Behavior of Novel Y‐Shaped Sandwich Beams Subjected to Compressive Loadings: Integration of Supervised Learning and Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the mechanical response of Y‐shaped core sandwich beams under compressive loading is investigated, using deep feed‐forward neural networks (DFNNs) for predictive modeling. The DFNN model accurately captures stress–strain behavior, influenced by design parameters and loading rates.

A generalization of the Becker model in linear viscoelasticity: Creep, relaxation and internal friction

open access: yes, 2018
We present a new rheological model depending on a real parameter $\nu \in [0,1]$ that reduces to the Maxwell body for $\nu=0$ and to the Becker body for $\nu=1$.
