Background Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is associated with mortality outcomes in severe sepsis and septic shock. There are ongoing issues with diagnosing diastolic dysfunction in this cohort, partly owing to the poor applicability of ...

Arbitrary decay for a von Karman system with memory
In this paper we study the von Karman plate model with long range memory. By using the assumptions on the relaxation function due to Tatar (J. Math. Phys. 52:013502, 2011), we show an arbitrary rate of decay, which is not necessarily of an exponential or

Electronic Raman response in anisotropic metals
Using a generalized response theory we derive the electronic Raman response function for metals with anisotropic relaxation rates. The calculations account for the long--range Coulomb interaction and treat the collision operator within a charge ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Thermodynamic phase plane analysis of ventricular contraction and relaxation
Background Ventricular function has conventionally been characterized using indexes of systolic (contractile) or diastolic (relaxation/stiffness) function.

Spin relaxation rate for heavy quarks in weakly coupled QCD plasma
We compute the relaxation rate of the spin density of heavy quarks in a perturbative QCD plasma to leading-log order in the coupling constant g. The spin relaxation rate Γ s in spin hydrodynamics is shown to be Γ s ~ g 4 log(1/g)T(T/M)2 in the heavy ...

We consider charge relaxation in the mesoscopic equivalent of an RC circuit. For a single-channel, spin-polarized contact, self-consistent scattering theory predicts a universal charge relaxation resistance equal to half a resistance quantum independent ...

Dynamical Renormalization Group Approach to Quantum Kinetics in Scalar and Gauge Theories [PDF]
We derive quantum kinetic equations from a quantum field theory implementing a diagrammatic perturbative expansion improved by a resummation via the dynamical renormalization group.

ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...
