Extreme Rainfall Estimation Methods: A Review

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
The figure illustrates the topics we cover and their inter‐relationships. Extreme value models assign probabilities to rainfall depths, often using regionalisation. They may also allow variation with season, duration, climate epoch or the spatial extent of rainfall. The resulting storm depths can be assigned spatial and/or temporal profiles.

Agglomeration Behavior of Nonmetallic Particles on the Surface of Si‐Killed Liquid Steel Using HT‐CSLM: An In Situ Investigation

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 9, Page 4525-4536, September 2026.
The in situ agglomeration behavior of semisolid Al–silicate inclusions in Si‐killed steel is studied using high‐temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy. Particle motion and interparticle forces at the steel/argon interface are quantified and compared with a modified capillary interaction model.

Subnanometer Copper Clusters of Five Atoms on Titania Boosting CO2 Conversion to Methane

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Supported five‐atom copper clusters (Cu5/TiO2) demonstrate exceptional catalytic performance for CO2 methanation, achieving 100% methane selectivity at 300 °C. Operando X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) and DFT calculations reveal a preferred methoxy‐mediated pathway and reversible redox behavior.
