Interplay between polarization rotation and crack propagation in PMN-PT relaxor single crystals
Investigations on the interconnection between the polarization rotation and crack propagation are performed for [110]-oriented 74Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-26PbTiO3 relaxor ferroelectric single crystal under electric loadings along [001] direction.

Two-step phase changes in cubic relaxor ferroelectrics
The field-driven conversion between the zero-field-cooled frozen relaxor state and a ferroelectric state of several cubic relaxors is found to occur in at least two distinct steps, after a period of creep, as a function of time.

Piezoelectric response of disordered lead-based relaxor ferroelectrics
Lead-based relaxor ferroelectrics are known for their large piezoelectric response, but the relation between the response and the nanoscale structure of these materials is still under debate. In this Perspective, the microscopic implications of the polar

Tetragonal tungsten bronze compounds: relaxor vs mixed ferroelectric - dipole glass behavior
We demonstrate that recent experimental data (E. Castel et al J.Phys. Cond. Mat. {\bf 21} (2009), 452201) on tungsten bronze compound (TBC) Ba$_2$Pr$_x$Nd$_{1-x}$FeNb$_4$O$_{15}$ can be well explained in our model predicting a crossover from ...

Synchrotron x-ray Studies of Superlattice Ordering in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 Single Crystals Doped with PbTiO3 [PDF]
The temperature dependence of the superlattice reflections: a) F spots and b) alpha spots in a lead magnesium niobate (PMN) single crystals containing 0% and 6% of PbTiO3 (PT) has been studied using synchrotron x-ray scattering techniques.

Relaxor behavior of K0.5La0.5Bi2Nb2O9 ceramics
K 0.5 La 0.5 Bi 2 Nb 2 O 9 , a relaxor, was synthesized and the structural studies confirmed it to be an n=2 member of the Aurivillius oxides. The 12{h00} and 12{hk0} types of superlattice reflections in the electron diffraction patterns reflected the presence of ordered polar regions. A broad dielectric peak with frequency dependent dielectric maximum

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

State transition and electrocaloric effect of BaZr$_{x}$Ti$_{1-x}$O$_3$: simulation and experiment
The electrocaloric effect (ECE) of BaZr$_{x}$Ti$_{1-x}$O$_3$ (BZT) is closely related to the relaxor state transition of the materials. This work presents a systematic study on the ECE and the state transition of the BZT, using a combined canonical and ...
