Relay Selection Algorithm for Cognitive Relay Network
Wireless Personal Communications, 2017In the cognitive relay network, due to the different fading characteristics of communication links, not all relay nodes have constructive impacts on the system performance. A relay selection algorithm is proposed to obtain the minimum relay transmission power while satisfying the secondary user SINR requirements and interference temperature constraints.

SNR-based relay selection scheme for cooperative relay networks
2015 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC), 2015In this paper, a cooperative relaying scheme where optimum threshold value based relay selection algorithm is considered for decode and forward (DF) based cooperative relaying networks is proposed over the Nakagami-m fading channels. Relay selection scheme with optimum threshold value is an effective method to decrease the error propagations that occur

Opportunistic relays selection for successive relaying with inter-relay interference
2015 IEEE 12th Malaysia International Conference on Communications (MICC), 2015In the presence of inter-relay interference, the capacity performance of successive relaying can be severely degraded. Existing literature on successive relaying does not consider the channel quality of the inter-relay channel in maximising the capacity performance.

2011 - MILCOM 2011 Military Communications Conference, 2011
In this paper we present opportunistic relay communication strategies of decode and forward relaying. The channel that we are considering includes pathloss, shadowing, and fast fading effects. We find a simple outage probability formula for opportunistic relaying in the channel, and validate the results by comparing it with the exact outage probability.

Relay selection for asynchronous AF relay networks with frequency selective channels
2016 IEEE 17th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2016In this paper, relay selection schemes in asynchronous multi-relay network for frequency selective channels have been investigated. In particular, distributed Alamouti space time coding and amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying are exploited, and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is implemented with adaptive cyclic prefix (CP) to deal with ...

A Novel Relay Selection Algorithm for Relaying Networks
2009 IEEE 70th Vehicular Technology Conference Fall, 2009Cooperative diversity has been recently proposed as a way to form virtual antenna arrays that provide dramatic gains in slow fading wireless environments. In a multiple-relay network, the opportunistic relay selection scheme has been shown to outperform any other strategy that involves the conventional all-participate scheme.

Max-Max Relay Selection for Relays with Buffers
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2012In this paper, we propose a new relay selection scheme for half-duplex relays with buffers. The proposed scheme is referred to as max-max relay selection (MMRS) since the relays with the best source-relay and the best relay-destination channels are selected for reception and transmission, respectively, which is only possible without data loss if the ...

Relay selection strategy for parallel relayed FSO systems
2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017This paper describes a coherent tree-space optical (FSO) communication system consisting of multiple parallel relays and two terminal nodes. When direct communication between the two terminal nodes of the network is not possible, one relay is selected to establish a dual-hop communication link between them.

Bidirectional regenerative half-duplex relaying using relay selection
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2008We consider the problem of relay selection in a network with N relay nodes. A half-duplex relay node enables bidirectional communication between two nodes with a spectrally efficient two-phase protocol. In the first phase both nodes transmit their messages to a relay node, which decodes the messages and broadcasts a composition using superposition ...

Power versus relay selection in adaptive relay networks
2010 7th International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems, 2010Adaptive relaying schemes significantly improve the performance of relay networks by switching the forwarding technique according to the reliability of the received signal. Moreover, efficient resource allocation is vital for meliorating the relay network performance.
