Reliability of global sensitivity indices

Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2011
Uncertainty and sensitivity analysis is an essential ingredient of model development and applications. For many uncertainty and sensitivity analysis techniques, sensitivity indices are calculated based on a relatively large sample to measure the importance of parameters in their contributions to uncertainties in model outputs.

Structural reliability and its sensitivity

Civil Engineering and Environmental Systems, 1985
Abstract The paper shows that a least-biased estimate of the failure probability of a structural component or structure with random loads and strengths may be calculated by using the maximum entropy distribution. The method permits the probability of failure to be calculated directly from statistical load and strength data without the need to choose ...

A Sensitivity Analysis for System Reliability

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2006
In terms of the relationship between the lower confidence limits of reliabilities for system and component, using the finite Markov chain imbedding approach, we analyze the sensitivity of reliability for a linear consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system, a circular consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system, and a k-within-consecutive-r-out-of-n:F system.

Reliability sensitivity based on first-order reliability method

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2011
A new efficient and accurate method for reliability sensitivity analysis of mechanical components is proposed based on the first-order reliability method (FORM). This method provides very close approximate solutions for strongly non-linear limit state functions with independent normal random variables.

Computational methods for efficient structural reliability and reliability sensitivity analysis

AIAA Journal, 1993
This paper presents recent developments in efficient structural reliability analysis methods. The paper proposes an efficient, adaptive importance sampling (AIS) method that can be used to compute reliability and reliability sensitivities. The AIS approach uses a sampling density that is proportional to the joint PDF of the random variables.

Sensitivity of reliability of logic gates

2017 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA), 2017
Ever-shrinking dimensions of transistors in CMOS have caused the failure rates/probabilities to increase dramatically. Monte Carlo simulations are one way of estimation the failure probabilities, however, such simulations tend to be very time-consuming. A much speedier alternative is to use models for the estimation.

Reliability of Slopes in Sensitive Clays

2017
Risk and probabilistic analyses have now had enough applications that make them effective to use in practice. The approach provides more insight than deterministic analyses alone. They help reduce uncertainty and focus on safety and cost-effectiveness.

Reliability estimation and sensitivity testing

Microelectronics Reliability, 1975
Abstract Reliability requirements are sometimes expressed as that at a particular stress level, say x o , the failure probability of a device should not exceed p o . Considered here are the collection and statistical analysis of data by which one can assess whether the requirement is met.

Sensitivity of Website Reliability to Usage Profile Changes

The 18th IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability (ISSRE '07), 2007
To measure the reliability of a website from a user's point of view, the uncertainly on the usage of the website has to be taken into account. In this paper we investigate the influence of this uncertainly on the reliability estimate for a web server. For this purpose a session based Markov model is used to model the usage extracted from the server's ...

How Reliable Is Moral Sensitivity?

Common Knowledge, 2010
This response to “Morality or Moralism?” by Emilie Hache and Bruno Latour takes issue with their distinction between two kinds of morality. Hache and Latour see a difference between morality as sensitivity and morality as principled claims regarding moral considerability.
