Switched reluctance generators and their control

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2002
This paper discusses how the switched reluctance generator (SRG) converts energy as directed by a controller. Beginning with a review of the electromechanics of generation, the paper identifies the implications of the energy conversion process on how the SRG is controlled.

Investigation of Self-Excited Synchronous Reluctance Generators

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2018
In this paper, an analytical model in the $dq$ reference frame is developed to recognize the steady state of the self-excited reluctance generator considering no-load and resistive load conditions. A fast method to estimate the minimum capacitance requirement is proposed. Experiments have been carried out to verify the analytical results.

Fault analysis and excitation requirements for switched reluctance-generators

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2002
Switched reluctance machines are a prime candidate for aerospace starter/generators and various automotive applications. The choice of SRM for a starter/generator application is driven largely by the perceived reliability and fault tolerance of the machine and its electronics.

Study on switched reluctance generator

Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE A, 2004
The linear and non-linear math models of the switched reluctance generator (SRG) in generator mode were established in this work. The phase current and energy conversion process during generator operation were simulated by the linear math model. The non-linear math model was used to analyze the characteristics of the SRG operation in self-excitation ...

A novel sensorless speed controller design for doubly-fed reluctance wind turbine generators

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management, 2016
A brushless doubly-fed reluctance generator has been seen by research communities as a potential solution to higher operation and maintenance costs associated with the compromised reliability of brush compartment of conventional doubly-fed induction ...

Particle swarm and Box׳s complex optimization methods to design linear tubular switched reluctance generators for wave energy conversion

open access: yesSwarm and Evolutionary Computation, 2016
This paper addresses the optimization of the linear switched reluctance generator with tubular topology to be applied in a sea wave energy conversion system. Two new algorithms to optimize the geometry of the generators are proposed.

Static power conversion from three-phase self-excited induction and reluctance generators

open access: yesElectric Power Systems Research, 1994
This paper presents a mathematical model for the three-phase bridge controlled rectifier. Based on this model, a static power conversion system for three-phase self-excited induction and reluctance generators is described.

Autonomous reluctance generator

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2001
A single-phase autonomous reluctance generator is analysed as an oscillator with time-varying parameters. It is shown that the reluctance generator can be modelled by the parametric Hill's equation. The necessary condition for generating AC output power is obtained by using different methods of analysis.
