3D flux configuration cost effective switched reluctance motor with small torque ripple content; design and prototyping

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications
Switch reluctance motors (SRMs) have many advantages, such as easy construction, high reliability, low cost, and higher energy efficiency compared to the inductance motors.

A Review on Segmented Switched Reluctance Motors

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) benefits from its magnet-free nature, robust construction, low cost, flexible controls, and the ability to operate in harsh environments such as high temperatures and high pressure. It has received increasing attention

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Alternate Rotor Design for Line-Start Synchronous Reluctance Motor With Minimum Use of Copper

open access: yesIEEE Access
Line-start synchronous reluctance motors (LSSynRM) combine the high efficiency of synchronous reluctance Motors (SynRM) with the self-starting capability of induction motors.

New trends in electric motors and selection for electric vehicle propulsion systems

open access: yesIET Electrical Systems in Transportation, 2021
The increase in the numbers of electric vehicles (EVs) is seen as an upgrading of the existing vehicles for various reasons. This calls for an in‐depth analysis of the heart of these vehicles—the motor. A motor in an electric vehicle propulsion system is

Life‐Threatening Bradycardia in Anti‐NMDA‐Receptor Encephalitis and a Novel Use for Permanent Pacing

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis (pNMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder that can cause severe autonomic dysfunction, including symptomatic bradycardia and asystole. Dysautonomia can last for years, making it very challenging to manage.

Current Control of Electrolytic Capacitor-Less Variable Frequency Drive System for Synchronous Reluctance Motors Based on Power Balancing and Compensation

open access: yesIEEE Access
The electrolytic capacitor-less variable frequency drive scheme using film capacitors to replace electrolytic capacitors has been partially applied in the field of washing machines and air conditioners driven by permanent magnet synchronous motors, due ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Applying an Ethical Lens to the Treatment of People With Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The practice of neurology requires an understanding of clinical ethics for decision‐making. In multiple sclerosis (MS) care, there are a wide range of ethical considerations that may arise. These involve shared decision‐making around selection of a disease‐modifying therapy (DMT), risks and benefits of well‐studied medications in comparison to

Integrating Patient‐Reported Quality Measures in SLE: Development of the American College of Rheumatology Implementation Guide

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To support high‐quality, patient‐centered care for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) developed evidence‐based measures incorporating clinical and patient‐reported outcomes measures (PROMs). Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we conducted semi‐structured interviews ...
