Camera traps and deep learning enable efficient large‐scale density estimation of wildlife in temperate forest ecosystems

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We tested the effect of using a readily available deep learning algorithm for animal species classification on the population density estimates of eight wild mammal species in 10 protected areas (Da). In general, there were no significant differences to the manual estimates (Dm) for all animal species and seasons.

Sleep duration variability is associated with lower inhibitory control after bariatric surgery in adult females

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Short sleep may lead to impairments in executive function, including inhibitory control (IC). After bariatric surgery, better IC is associated with more favorable weight loss and weight maintenance outcomes. Methods This study examined the relationships between IC via a Go/No‐Go (GNG) task with sleep outcomes in a sample of 22 ...

Activism risk and corporate self‐regulation: Investigating how anti‐SLAPP laws impact firms' institutional corporate social performance

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary This research investigates how firms attempt to preempt activism before it mobilizes into an active threat. Employing a difference‐in‐differences design, we examine the quasi‐exogenous enactments of laws that prevent Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (anti‐SLAPP laws) in the United States.

Chinese Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment of Adult Obstructive Sleep Apnea (2024)

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common chronic disorder characterized by abnormal breathing during sleeping. OSA can damage various organs throughout the body and is burdensome, both socially and economically. Moreover, as OSA has been increasingly studied in recent years, new evidence‐based guidelines for its diagnosis and surgical ...
