ABSTRACT Anthropogenic barriers such as dams and culverts have led to riverine habitat fragmentation and decreased fish diversity worldwide. Low‐head structures such as culverts are far more abundant than large dams and may have a larger cumulative impact on river connectivity.

Metabarcoding as a Tool in Characterizing Nordic Deep‐Sea and Arctic Benthic Ecosystems

Multi‐marker sediment eDNA metabarcoding robustly discriminates benthic habitats across the Nordic Seas and Arctic Mid‐Ocean Ridge. Complementary 18S rDNA and COI performance enhances taxonomic resolution and supports standardized integration of metabarcoding into future deep‐sea biodiversity surveys.
