Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Adsorptive removal of anionic dye from aqueous solutions using powdered and calcined vegetables wastes as low-cost adsorbent

open access: yesArab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2018
In this study, we describe a behaviour comparison between powdered and calcined adsorbents prepared from vegetables waste of Persea species to remove Eriochrome Black T as anionic dye from aqueous solutions. Potential capabilities of these two adsorbents

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Fast Color Removal Method Considering Differences between Colors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When a color image is converted into a monochrome one, luminance components of the pixels have been used as gray-levels for the representation of the monochrome image in HDTV standard.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

To Be Or Knot To Be: A Rare Case Of Nasogastric Tube Knotting

open access: yesJournal of Rawalpindi Medical College, 2020
Nasogastric tube is a commonly used medium of enteral nutrition and gastric decompression in both medical and surgical patients. Nasogastric tube knotting is a rare complication with only a handful of cases found in literature.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Autonomy for Active Space Debris Removal: Research Issues and Approaches

open access: yes, 2013
Even though the infinite vastness of the universe is an accepted theory, apparently infinity ends when it comes to orbits surrounding the Earth. This was a hard lesson to learn when Iridium 33 and Cosmos 2251 collided in the low Earth orbit in February ...
