T Cell‐Independent Role of PD‐L1 in Kidney Repair: Mitigation of Tubular DNA Damage via PD‐L1/BRCA1 Interaction Following AKI

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PD‐L1 is primarily expressed in renal tubules and upregulated in both murine models of AKI and renal biopsy samples from patients with AKI. PD‐L1 can promote adaptive TECs repair through interacting with BRCA1, independent of its canonical immunomodulatory function of T cells, and PD‐L1 supplementation may represent a promising therapeutic strategy for

Retroperitoneal abscess with subcutaneous extension: case report of a rare complication of percutaneous renal biopsy

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2018
Background Infective complications following percutaneous renal biopsy are rare, even among immunocompromised. However it is important to be vigilant about such complications, to detect them early and prevent morbidity and mortality.

Caveolin‐1 Stabilizes SERCA2 to Counteract Acute Kidney Injury via Suppression of Ca2+‐Dependent Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Distal Tubules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In AKI, initial kidney injury upregulates the expression of Cav‐1, which subsequently binds to and stabilizes SERCA2 via its scaffolding domain and through deubiquitination, thereby regulating Ca2+ homeostasis and ER stress. Conversely, Cav‐1 deficiency accelerates SERCA2 degradation, triggering Ca2+ overload and ER stress, and ultimately exacerbating ...

Hepatitis B and C co-Infection are independent predictors of progressive kidney disease in HIV-positive, antiretroviral-treated adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in HIV-positive individuals. Hepatitis C (HCV) co-infection has been associated with increased risk of CKD, but prior studies lack information on potential mechanisms.

Asymptomatic renal pseudoaneurysm after percutaneous renal biopsy

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2013
A 37-year-old man was referred to Division of Nephrology for a new renal cystic lesion that was found on ultrasonography. Four years prior to presentation, a percutaneous renal biopsy had been performed.

Targeting PLD3 Reverses the Immunosuppressive Niche by Reprogramming Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Potentiates Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PLD3 activates the lysosomal‐AKT‐NF‐κB axis to drive cellular senescence in macrophages, establishing an immunosuppressive TME by limiting the infiltration of cytotoxic T, NK, and NKT cells, which confers resistance to anti‐PD‐1 therapy. Abrine inhibits PLD3 expression, restoring antitumor immunity and synergizing with anti‐PD‐1 treatment.

Renal IGFBP6 Interacts With THBS1 to Drive Renal Cellular Senescence and Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Epithelial dedifferentiation and myofibroblast activation are critical drivers of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. Elevated levels of IGFBP6 have been linked to decreased renal function in CKD patients, but its precise role and underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Melatonin Alleviates Graft Biliary Fibrosis by Inhibiting VIM+ Cholangiocyte Subcluster via Hypoxia/TGF‐β‐CREM‐VIM Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing verified the presence of the VIM+ biliary epithelial cell (BEC) in the bile ducts of NAS patients. The hypoxia/TGF‐β‐CREM‐VIM axis mediated phenotypic switch toward VIM+ BEC is validated using a hypoxia/TGF‐β‐stimulated cellular model, a rat liver transplantation model, BEC‐specific Crem conditional knockout rats, and BEC ...
