Percutaneous ultrasound-guided renal biopsy; A comparison of axial vs. sagittal probe location

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Internal Medicine, 2017
Background. Renal biopsy is an important method for diagnosis of renal parenchymal abnormalities. Here, we compare the effectiveness and complications of percutaneous ultrasound-guided renal biopsy using axial vs. sagittal probe locations.

Expanded Hepatic Progenitor Cells Featured with Aggregation of α‐Synuclein Contribute to Pathologic Bile Duct Regeneration in Biliary Atresia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Expanded NCAM1+EpCAM+ hepatic progenitor cells in biliary atresia are characterized by aggregation of α‐synuclein. This pathological protein potentiates cellular susceptibility to GSH‐dependent redox dyshomeostasis, induces unstable biliary cell fate specification, and subsequently drives aberrant biliary regeneration.

Targeting the ATX‐LPA Axis Overcomes TKI Resistance and Immunosuppression in Renal Cell Carcinoma via Dual Inhibition of AKT/mTOR and TBK1/IRF3 Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic resistance limits durable survival in advanced/metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) treated with first‐line tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) plus immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). We sought to define key resistance drivers and actionable targets.

The Spectrum of Biopsy‐Proven Renal Diseases in Chinese Elderly Patients and Its Temporal Shift Over 20 Years: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
This 20‐year retrospective study reveals a significant increase in renal biopsy utilization and a pivotal shift in biopsy‐proven renal disease among Chinese elderly patients. Secondary glomerular nephropathy (particularly diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive nephropathy) has surpassed primary glomerular nephropathy as the leading biopsy‐proven ...

Pancreatic Atrophy: A Narrative Review and Surgical Interpretation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Pancreatic parenchymal atrophy pattern and intraoperative margin assessment guide surgical strategy. ABSTRACT Despite recent advances in multimodal management, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a fatal malignancy. Early detection of indirect findings of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is essential to improve treatment outcomes, drawing ...

Clinically Informed Intelligent Classification of Ovarian Cancer Cells by Label‐Free Holographic Imaging Flow Cytometry

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Quantitative phase maps of single cells recorded in flow cytometry modality feed a hierarchical architecture of machine learning models for the label‐free identification of subtypes of ovarian cancer. The employment of a priori clinical information improves the classification performance, thus emulating the clinical application of liquid biopsy during ...
