Global Sensitivity Analysis in a Mathematical Model of the Renal Interstitium [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
The pressure in the renal interstitium is an important factor for normal kidney function. Here we develop a computational model of the rat kidney and use it to investigate the relationship between arterial blood pressure and interstitial fluid pressure. In addition, we investigate how tissue flexibility influences this relationship.

Emerging key roles for P2X receptors in the kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
P2X ionotropic non-selective cation channels are expressed throughout the kidney and are activated in a paracrine or autocrine manner following the binding of extracellular ATP and related extracellular nucleotides. Whilst there is a wealth of literature

Novel Less Toxic, Lymphoid Tissue‐Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles Containing a Vitamin B5‐Derived Ionizable Lipid for mRNA Vaccine Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
The top‐performing lipid nanoparticle, incorporating a novel ionizable lipid derived from vitamin B5, demonstrates high mRNA transfection efficiency, low toxicity, favorable stability, targeted delivery to lymphoid tissues, and high immunogenicity, showing promise as a carrier for mRNA vaccines for infectious diseases and cancer.

Automatic Delineation of Kidney Region in DCE-MRI [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Delineation of the kidney region in dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) is required during post-acquisition analysis in order to quantify various aspects of renal function, such as filtration and perfusion or blood flow. However, this can be obfuscated by the Partial Volume Effect (PVE), caused due to the mixing of any single

Ultrasonic Doppler measurement of renal artery blood flow [PDF]

open access: yes
An extensive evaluation of the practical and theoretical limitations encountered in the use of totally implantable CW Doppler flowmeters is provided. Theoretical analyses, computer models, in-vitro and in-vivo calibration studies describe the sources and

Plasma 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid as an endogenous index of renal plasma flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Plasma 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid as an endogenous index of renal plasma flow. 5-Hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), the major serotonin metabolite, was measured in human plasma and urine using liquid chromatography and electrochemical detection.

Bioengineering a Patient‐Derived Vascularized Lung Tumor‐on‐Chip Model to Decipher Immunomodulation by the Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Most in vitro cancer models lack cellular diversity, functional complexity, and clinical relevance. This work highlights the generation of an innovative dynamic tetraculture with autologous patient‐derived cells within a vascularized tumor‐on‐chip, as well as the recapitulation of endothelial anergy features induced by the tumor microenvironment ...
