Hemodynamical Behavior Analysis of Anemic, Diabetic, and Healthy Blood Flow in the Carotid Artery [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of blood rheology on hemodynamic parameters is investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics on blood flow through the human carotid artery. We performed three-dimensional modeling and simulation to study blood flow through the carotid artery, which is divided into internal and exterior parts with a decreased radius.

Synthetic Bilirubin‐Based Nanomedicine Protects Against Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury Through Antioxidant and Immune‐Modulating Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
BX‐001N, a polyethylene glycol‐conjugated bilirubin 3α nanoparticle, is the first GMP‐grade, synthetic bilirubin‐based nanomedicine. It effectively attenuates acute renal injury, facilitates subacute renal recovery, and suppresses chronic fibrosis after renal ischemia/reperfusion injury via anti‐oxidant and immune‐modulating activity.

Evaluation of feline renal perfusion with contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and scintigraphy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is an emerging technique to evaluate tissue perfusion. Promising results have been obtained in the evaluation of renal perfusion in health and disease, both in human and veterinary medicine. Renal scintigraphy using Tc-

Glucocorticoids Alter Bone Microvascular Barrier via MAPK/Connexin43 Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Osteoporosis induced by Glucocorticoids (GCs) is a common complication of long‐term GC use in patients with inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, often leading to an increased fracture risk. A 3D bicellular endo‐osteo microfluidic platform is developed to explore pathogenic mechanisms underlying GCs‐induced osteoporosis, highlighting a novel MAPK ...

Dithymoquinone as a novel inhibitor for 3-carboxy-4-methyl-5-propyl-2-furanpropanoic acid (CMPF) to prevent renal failure [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
3-carboxy-4-methyl-5-propyl-2-furanpropanoic acid (CMPF) is a major endogenous ligand found in the human serum albumin (HSA) of renal failure patients. It gets accumulated in the HSA and its concentration in sera of patients may reflect the chronicity of renal failure [1-4].

Acute effects of ferumoxytol on regulation of renal hemodynamics and oxygenation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticle ferumoxytol is increasingly used as intravascular contrast agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This study details the impact of ferumoxytol on regulation of renal hemodynamics and oxygenation.

Engineered 3D Kidney Glomerular Microtissues to Model Podocyte‐Centric Diseases for the Validation of New Drug Targets

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The study introduces innovative 3D microtissues that replicate the glomerular filtration barrier of the kidney, offering a novel platform for understanding podocytopathies. These microtissues simulate the glomerulus's structure and dynamics, allowing for the modeling of podocyte injuries and drug testing.

Pathophysiological Roles of Aldosterone and Mineralocorticoid Receptor in the Kidney

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2011
Aldosterone, a steroid hormone, has traditionally been viewed as a key regulator of fluid and electrolyte homeostasis, as well as blood pressure, through the activation of mineralocorticoid receptor (MR).

Fetal renal artery flow and renal echogenicity in the chronically hypoxic state. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
peer reviewedThe object of this study was to investigate the fetal renal arterial blood flow in normal and hyperechogenic kidneys during the third trimester of gestation. The pregnancies screened were all chronically hypoxic. Depending on the etiology of
