Thyroid Hormone Receptor β1 and PGC1α Coordinately Regulate OPA1/MFN2‐Mediated Mitochondrial Fusion and UCP1‐Mediated Lipid Browning in ccRCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thyroid hormone receptor β1 (TRβ) downregulation correlates with poor prognosis in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Restoration of TRβ and the peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor gamma coactivator 1‐alpha suppresses tumor progression in ccRCC through Uncoupling protein 1 mediated tumor cell “slimming” and optic atrophy 1/mitofusin 2 ...

De Novo Gene Transcription of Connexin Mediates Cytoplasmic Fluid Exchange and Flocking Transitions in Physiological and Cancerous Epithelial Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
EGF‐induced de novo transcription of connexins Cx26 and Cx31 promotes flocking behavior that fluidizes epithelia and enables coordinated collective migration. Connexin‐driven cytoplasmic exchange mechanistically links growth‐factor signaling to invasive dynamics.

Molecular mechanisms of renal cell carcinoma metastasis and potential targets for therapy

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Renal cell carcinoma is a common type of cancer, with approximately 30% of patients potentially developing metastatic disease. Some patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma are found in advanced stages, so the 5-year survival rate for metastatic ...

[Guideline 'Renal cell carcinoma']. [PDF]

open access: yesNederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde, 2008
Each year, more than 1500 new cases of renal cell carcinoma are diagnosed in the Netherlands, and approximately 850 patients die due to this disease. The guideline 'Renal cell carcinoma' contains clinical practice recommendations on the diagnosis (imaging, pathological assessment, histopathological classification) and treatment (surgery, chemo-, immuno-

Retinoic Acid Reprograms Mast Cells Toward a Proinflammatory State to Enhance Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proinflammatory mast cells represent an MHC‐IIhigh, cytokine‐producing mast cell subset associated with improved survival and enhanced responses to anti‐PD‐1 therapy. Retinoic acid drives their polarization, enabling antigen uptake and presentation, and T cell recruitment and activation, collectively promoting adaptive anti‐tumor immunity.

Engineered Mesenchymal Stem Cell–NK Cell Complexes for Spatially Targeted and Functionally Revitalized Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IL‐15‐engineered stem cell–NK cell complexes, assembled via bioorthogonal chemistry, enable effective lung cancer immunotherapy. Abstract Natural killer (NK) cells represent a powerful immunotherapeutic strategy due to their intrinsic cytotoxicity and ability to target tumor cells independently of antigen presentation.

Periostin promotes migration and invasion of renal cell carcinoma through the integrin/focal adhesion kinase/c-Jun N-terminal kinase pathway

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Periostin (POSTN) is an extracellular matrix protein which is overexpressed in a variety of cancers and has been related to tumorigenesis of renal cell carcinoma.

Piezo1 Upregulation in Monocyte‐Derived Macrophages Impairs Post‐Myocardial Infarction Cardiac Repair via Defective Efferocytosis and Enhanced Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports early Piezo1 activation in bone marrow monocyte‐derived macrophages (MoMs) during myocardial infarction (MI), which governs the fate and function of recruited macrophages. The recruited MoMs with increased Piezo1 expression exhibit increased ferroptosis and defective efferocytosis, delayed clearance of dead cells and resolution of ...

Left-sided clear cell renal cell carcinoma initially presenting with isolated abdominal wall metastasis: a case report

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Isolated abdominal wall metastasis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma is exceedingly rare. We report a case where isolated abdominal wall metastasis served as the initial manifestation while the primary renal carcinoma remained occult.
