Renal medullary circulation: Hormonal control
It is now becoming apparent that the medullary circulation in the kidney can be regulated separately from overall renal blood flow. This characteristic of the medullary circulation plays an important role in the kidney's ability to excrete a dilute or concentrated urine in concert with changes in water and sodium transport in the distal nephron ...

Resetting the neurohormonal balance in heart failure (HF). the relevance of the natriuretic peptide (NP) system to the clinical management of patients with HF [PDF]
The natriuretic peptide (NP) system, which includes atrial natriuretic peptide, B-type natriuretic peptide, and C-type natriuretic peptide, has an important role in cardiovascular homeostasis, promoting a number of physiological effects including ...

This review highlights recent progress in nanocarriers targeting pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), including Toll‐like and NOD‐like receptors, for enhancing the treatment of bacterial sepsis and related complications. These nanomedicines deliver antibiotics and anti‐inflammatory agents while modulating immune responses.

Mild and moderate pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease is associated with increased coronary artery calcium. [PDF]
BackgroundIt is increasingly evident that patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are more likely to die from heart disease than kidney failure. This study evaluated whether pre- dialysis CKD is an independent risk factor for coronary artery calcium ...

Safety Evaluation of Repeated Application of Polymeric Microarray Patches in Miniature Pigs
This study demonstrates the safety of repeated application of three types of microarray patches (MAPs), hydrogelforming, dissolving, and implantable, over four weeks in miniature pigs. No adverse skin or systemic effects were observed, supporting the clinical potential of MAPs as safe and effective drug delivery platforms.

Role of nitric oxide and prostaglandin in the maintenance of cortical and renal medullary blood flow
This study was undertaken in anesthetized dogs to evaluate the relative participation of prostaglandins (PGs) and nitric oxide (NO) in the maintenance of total renal blood flow (TRBF), and renal medullary blood flow (RMBF).

HEPATIC CIRCULATION IN ACUTE HEMORRHAGE WITH REFERENCE TO RENAL CIRCULATION
Studies were made on the hemodynamics in the liver and kidney during hemorrhage and retransfusion, using 20 dogs with or without hepatic periarterial nerve plexus, anaesthetized with sodium pentobarbital. The results were as follows. In 14 dogs in which the hepatic periarterial nerve plexus was left intact (Group A), the averages of the hepatic ...
