Simple renal cysts and peripelvic cysts
Urologiia, 2020The topic of renal cystic lesions is described in the article. The localization and structure of solitary, parapelvic and multiple sinus cysts are discussed. The Bosniak classification (1986) is presented, as well as the updated Bosniak classification, in which a number of modifications in 2019 were made.

A patient with a large renal cyst that became infected, after puncture, is reported. A very high LDH of the aspirate was highly suggestive of infection. CT showed air bubbles, a thick wall with little contrast enhancement, and low density content. CT alone cannot differentiate an infected cyst from an abscess necrotic tumor.

A Classification of Renal Cysts
1990Renal cysts are a heterogeneous group comprising heritable, developmental, and acquired disorders. The classification presented here has been developed, as have several others in the past, to incorporate radiographic, functional, and genetic contributions in its clinicopathologic correlations.

The Classification of Renal Cysts
Nephron, 2008Cystic disorders of the kidney are a heterogeneous group comprising developmental, heritable, and acquired disorders. The cysts themselves present few distinctive or diagnostic features. Their classification is based, therefore, on associated phenomena.

Benign Renal Cysts and Renal Function
Journal of Urology, 1980A series of renal masses found to be simple renal cysts was studied with the 131iodine hippuran quantitative scintillation camera. No significant decrease in function was noted. Parenchymal destruction and functional loss are uncommon in simple cysts regardless of size or position.

Renal cysts usually are asymptomatic, produce no harm to the kidney and require no treatment once diagnosed. However, an occasional expanding cyst causes progressive obstruction to caliceal or pelvic outflow. Herein is reported observations on 4 patients in whom cysts produced significant obstruction to the pelvic or major caliceal outflow.

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1983
Three cases of surgically proven benign renal cysts are presented that demonstrated high density on computed tomography. The lesions shared the common characteristics of hyperdensity, nonenhancement with intravenous contrast material, round shape, and sharp margination.

Medecine sciences : M/S, 2014
Advances in genomics, bioinformatics and the creation of model organisms have identified many genes associated with polycystic kidney diseases. Historically, these genes were not necessarily associated with ciliopathies, but it appeared that many connections can be made between the cystic kidney disease and function of the primary cilium.

Urology, 1984
A case of multilocular renal cyst histologically consistent with clear cell carcinoma is reported. This case is unusual in that the cyst had features indicative of a developmental malformation superimposed by a neoplasm. The controversy over the pathogenesis of multilocular cyst--neoplasm versus developmental anomaly--is unsettled.

Cytomorphology of Renal Hydatid Cyst Mimicking as Simple Renal Cyst
CytopathologyABSTRACTEchinococcosis is one of the zoonotic illnesses. Echinococcus granulosus larvae are the causative agents. Renal hydatid cysts are extremely rare and are typically unilateral. If they evolve slowly, they may not show any symptoms for years. Only 2%–3% of cases of hydatidosis have isolated renal hydatid cysts, making them rare.
