Renal Osteodystrophy and Aging
Seminars in Nephrology, 2009The bone disease seen in our aging dialysis population is a complex mixture of osteoporosis and renal osteodystrophy. Attention must be paid to both of these issues. Hip fractures are increased with aging and this increase is further aggravated by renal failure. Preventive management with Vitamin D and bisphosphonates is reviewed.
