Effective diagnosis and localization of pleuroperitoneal communication in a patient on peritoneal dialysis using contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and pneumoperitoneum: a case report and literature review

open access: yesRenal Replacement Therapy
Background Pleuroperitoneal communication (PPC) is a serious complication that may necessitate the discontinuation of peritoneal dialysis. Accurate identification of the communication site is essential for successful thoracoscopic surgery. In this report,

Multivalent Protein Nanorings for Broad and Potent SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A protein‐only, modular multivalent nanoscaffold displaying 20 anchor points, decorated with two different binders (10 of each), targeting the SARS‐CoV‐2 receptor‐binding domain is presented. The construct self‐assembles into stable, biocompatible, homogeneous nanoparticles, exhibit synergistic binding with fM IC50 values. It also detects spike at 9 ng

Effect of right ventricular dysfunction on mortality in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesRenal Replacement Therapy
Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major complication in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). While the effect of left ventricular dysfunction on patients on MHD is well known, the association between right ventricular (RV) dysfunction ...

Retroperitoneal leakage causing ultrafiltration failure during continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis: a case report and literature review

open access: yesRenal Replacement Therapy
Background Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is associated with various complications, and the leakage of dialysate can lead to the discontinuation of PD. Retroperitoneal leakage (RPL) can be diagnosed on the basis of dialysate leakage, and, because there are few
