Development of a Synthetic 3D Platform for Compartmentalized Kidney In Vitro Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully synthetic, compartmentalized 3D kidney disease model is introduced. The kidney model combines a PEG‐based hydrogel matrix with anisotropic, enzymatically degradable rod‐shaped microgels to spatially arrange a triple co‐culture of key renal epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells.

Ureter metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2017
Background In most cases, prostate cancer metastasizes to the lymph nodes, bone, and liver. In very rare cases, it metastasizes to the ureter. Due to the difficulty in making a preoperative diagnosis, ureteral metastasis from prostate cancer is typically

Thoracic duct fistula and renal transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Thoracic duct drainage (TDD) was established for 21-115 days in 40 kidney recipients with an average removal per patient day of 4.7 1 lymph and 1.88 billion cells. Cellular and humoral immunity were depressed. TDD and immunosuppressive drugs were started

Ischemia augments alloimmune injury through IL-6-driven CD4+ alloreactivity

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Ischemia reperfusion injuries (IRI) are unavoidable in solid organ transplantation. IRI augments alloimmunity but the mechanisms involved are poorly understood. Herein, we examined the effect of IRI on antigen specific alloimmunity.
