Computed Tomographic Characteristics of Feline Renal Cell Carcinoma and Renal Lymphoma: A Comparative Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
This retrospective, multicenter study aimed to identify key computed tomography (CT) features that differentiate renal cell carcinoma (RCC) from lymphoma, the two most common feline renal neoplasms. CT images from 25 cats with renal tumors (15 RCC and 10

Efficacy and safety of cryoablation for localized renal tumor as an alternative approach to partial nephrectomy

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
IntroductionRenal cryoablation displays a profile of high tolerance, including in a frail population. Cryoablation appears as a validated alternative treatment to surgery for renal tumors smaller than 4 cm. However, evidence is lacking for larger tumors,

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Multimodal ultrasound fusion network for differentiating between benign and malignant solid renal tumors

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
Objective: We aim to establish a deep learning model called multimodal ultrasound fusion network (MUF-Net) based on gray-scale and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) images for classifying benign and malignant solid renal tumors automatically and to ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Evaluation of the MR and pathology characteristics immediately following percutaneous MR-guided microwave ablation in a rabbit kidney VX2 tumor implantation model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hyperthermia, 2019
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the immediate efficacy of magnetic resonance (MR)-guided microwave ablation (MWA) in rabbit kidneys implanted with VX2 tumors. Materials and methods: MR-guided MWA was performed in eight VX2 tumor-bearing rabbits. MR

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.
