On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

A dual gating mechanism controls target‐strand cleavage in Cas12j: Implications for engineering efficient nickases

Abstract The rapid expansion of CRISPR technologies has unveiled a diverse repertoire of RNA‐guided endonucleases, among them the compact Cas12j, which has emerged as a promising genome‐editing tool. Cas12j cleaves the two DNA strands sequentially; however, the molecular mechanism that regulates this cleavage remains incompletely understood.

Extracellular Vesicles From Senescent Cancer Cells Are Necessary and Sufficient to Drive Paracrine Senescence

Senescent cancer cells exhibit a secretory phenotype, known as SASP, capable of inducing paracrine senescence. However, the main factors within the SASP triggering this process are unknown. Here, we demonstrate that EVs within the SASP are necessary and sufficient to induce paracrine senescence.
