A Behavior-Aware Caching Architecture for Web Applications Using Static, Dynamic, and Burst Segmentation

open access: yesFuture Internet
This work proposes a behavior-aware caching architecture that improves cache hit rates by up to 10.8% over LRU and 36% over LFU in large-scale web applications, reducing redundant traffic and alleviating backend server load.

Hardware-Based Implementation of Algorithms for Data Replacement in Cache Memory of Processor Cores

open access: yesComputers
Replacement policies have an important role in the functioning of the cache memory of processor cores. The implementation of a successful policy allows us to increase the performance of the processor core and the computer system as a whole.

Assessing cyber-physical systems to balance maintenance replacement policies and optimise long-run average costs for aircraft assets

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems, 2018
Many aircraft assets are subject to both preventive (scheduled) and corrective (unscheduled) replacement policies to ensure adequate levels of reliability and availability.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Tracking Motor Progression and Device‐Aided Therapy Eligibility in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterise the progression of motor symptoms and identify eligibility for device‐aided therapies in Parkinson's disease, using both the 5‐2‐1 criteria and a refined clinical definition, while examining differences across genetic subgroups.

A Net Present Value Analysis of Opportunity-Based Age Replacement Models in Discrete Time

open access: yesMathematics
Two important opportunistic age replacement models, under replacement first and last disciplines, are generalized in discrete time. The net present value (NPV) is applied to formulate the expected total costs. The priority of multiple replacement options

Air Pollution and the Risk and Progression of Multiple Sclerosis: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Air pollution has been linked to several neurological conditions, including stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. Evidence regarding its association with multiple sclerosis (MS) remains conflicting, limited by small sample sizes. Methods PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane controlled register of trials (CENTRAL) were searched on ...

Reinforcement Learning-Based Cache Replacement Policies for Multicore Processors

open access: yesIEEE Access
High-performance computing (HPC) systems need to handle ever-increasing data sizes for fast processing and quick response times. However, modern processors’ caches are unable to handle massive amounts of data, leading to significant cache miss ...
