The evolutionary origins of streptophyte multicellularity
The phylogeny of streptophytes and the deep origin of branching filamentous growth. Summary Over their more than 1 billion years of evolutionary history, streptophytes have repeatedly transitioned between unicellular, simple multicellular and complex multicellular forms.

The human brain's imagination, which enables autonomous driving hazard avoidance by completing missing visual information, relies on Gaussian‐stochastic neuron. We report the altermagnetic RuO2 spintronic neurons integrating field‐free switching and intrinsic Gaussian stochasticity, building an all‐spin ANN for high‐quality image repairing and high ...

ABSTRACT Reinforcement learning (RL) has been used to control a wide range of dynamic processes, especially ones that are too complex to model well or have stochastic environmental perturbations. Fed‐batch fermentations are subject to changes in starting cell growth rates and process variations that can affect cell growth and secreted target production.

Consumer diversity drives stronger predation in tropical marine communities
Biotic interactions are predicted to be stronger in the tropics compared to higher latitudes, contributing to observed patterns of global biodiversity. While increased consumer diversity and more complex food webs are expected in tropical communities, the trophic dynamics underlying strong regional effects of predation are not well understood.
