Repolarization Syndromes

Current Problems in Cardiology, 2012
Repolarization syndromes, including early repolarization, Brugada, and short and long QT, have been implicated increasingly as causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD) despite no obvious mechanical cardiac abnormalities. So-called idiopathic ventricular fibrillation is now often reassigned to one of the aforementioned entities.

Delayed repolarization syndrome

The American Journal of Medicine, 1983
The electrocardiograms of 18 patients with atypical ventricular tachycardia manifested as torsade de pointes, ventricular fibrillo-flutter, polymorphous ventricular tachycardia, and uniform ventricular tachycardia were analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups: The first group included 10 patients with prolonged Q-T intervals or abnormal U ...

Early Repolarization Disease

Cardiac Electrophysiology Clinics, 2010
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is defined as an unexpected natural death from a cardiac cause within a short time period, generally less than or equal to 1 hour from the onset of symptoms, in a person without any prior condition that seems to result in instantaneous fatality.

Malignant Early Repolarization

The American Journal of Cardiology, 2018
A 27-year-old man presents with successfully resuscitated ventricular fibrillation. Structural and electrical causes of ventricular fibrillation in the young are presented along with a diagnostic strategy. Electrocardiographic features of malignant early repolarization are discussed.

Genetics of cardiac repolarization

Nature Genetics, 2009
Prolongation of the electrocardiographic QT interval, a measure of cardiac repolarization, is associated with arrhythmogenic disorders and is a risk factor for sudden cardiac death. Two genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of variation in the QT interval in population-based cohorts now report association with variants in a subset of ion channel genes

Ventricular Repolarization during Smoking

Cardiology, 1973
30 healthy individuals and 20 patients suffering from coronary artery disease had orthogonal electrocardiograms taken at rest, after moderate exercise and during smoking. The heart rate increased during smoking to approximately the same level as after exercise.
