Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Evidence of reverse and intermediate size segregation in dry granular flows down a rough incline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In a dry granular flow, size segregation behave differently for a mixture containing a few large beads with a size ratio (S) above 5 (Thomas, Phys.Rev.E 62,96(2000)).

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Plug flow and the breakdown of Bagnold scaling in cohesive granular flows

open access: yes, 2005
Cohesive granular media flowing down an inclined plane are studied by discrete element simulations. Previous work on cohesionless granular media demonstrated that within the steady flow regime where gravitational energy is balanced by dissipation arising

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
