Sexual and reproductive health among forcibly displaced persons in urban environments in low and middle-income countries: scoping review findings

open access: yesReproductive Health
Background Most forcibly displaced persons are hosted in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). There is a growing urbanization of forcibly displaced persons, whereby most refugees and nearly half of internally displaced persons live in urban areas ...

Role of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in human reproduction

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2018
As new research reveals, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) plays an effective role in pregnancy success, considering that it not only affects the embryo implantation and ovarian function but also it promotes endometrial thickening and ...

Reproductive and hormonal factors and ovarian cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2001
Menstrual, reproductive and hormonal factors have been related to ovarian cancer risk, but further quantification of their role in various populations is required.Cases were 1031 women, below age 79, with incident, histologically confirmed epithelial ovarian cancer, and controls 2411 women, admitted between 1992 and 1999 to a network of hospitals in 4 ...

Impact of Radiation Therapy on Physical and Psychosocial Health of Adolescents and Young Adults: A Joint Report From the Children's Oncology Group AYA and Radiation Oncology Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rates of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), age 15–39 years, are increasing. Consequently, radiation oncologists are treating more AYAs who have diagnoses spanning both pediatric and adult practices. Compared to pediatric and older adult patients, AYAs face a unique set of challenges.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Transport factor in defining regional boundaries

open access: yesВестник университета, 2023
The purpose of the article is to study the economic region as a set of reproduction circuits closely intertwined. The theoretical underpinning of the research is the concept of “Universal organisational science” introduced by Alexander A. Bogdanov.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Reproductive Factors and Risk of Meningioma and Glioma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, 2008
AbstractFemale sex hormones have previously been suggested as possible risk factors for brain tumors, but published studies have reported conflicting results. We conducted a population-based case-control study of glioma (n = 626) and meningioma (n = 906) cases and randomly selected controls stratified on age and geographic region (n = 1,774) in Denmark,

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
