Epidemic reproduction numbers and herd immunity
In this educational article, we explore the meanings and the applications of the reproductive numbers, namely the basic reproductive number R0 , and the effective reproductive number R. We also give examples of how these numbers may be affected by the values of β, κ and D, and we go on to explore the relationship of the R0 value to the concept of herd ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Global stability of a distributed delayed viral model with general incidence rate
In this paper, we discussed a infinitely distributed delayed viral infection model with nonlinear immune response and general incidence rate. We proved the existence and uniqueness of the equilibria.

Public health interventions have been implemented to mitigate the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Ontario, Canada; however, the quantification of their effectiveness remains to be done and is important to determine if some of the social ...

In this study, we propose deterministic and stochastic models of the spread of Covid-19 with vaccination and quarantine programs. The model considers the facts that vaccines do not provide full protection, the efficacy of current vaccines only lasts for ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Basic Reproduction Number of Chikungunya Virus Transmitted by Aedes Mosquitoes
We estimated the weighted mean basic reproduction number (R0) of chikungunya virus based on outbreak size. R0 was 3.4 (95% CI 2.4–4.2) and varied for 2 primary chikungunya mosquito vectors: 4.1 (95% CI 1.5–6.6) for Aedes aegypti and 2.8 (95% CI 1.8–3.8 ...

Nonlinear Observer to Estimate the Effective Reproduction Number of Infectious Diseases
In this paper, we design a Nonlinear Observer (NLO) to estimate the effective reproduction number (Rt) of infectious diseases. The NLO is designed from a discrete-time augmented Susceptible-Infectious-Removed (SIR) model. The observer gain is obtained by

Slide rule-type color chart predicts reproduced photo tones [PDF]
Slide rule-type color chart determines the final reproduced gray tones in the production of briefing charts that are photographed in black and white. The chart shows both the color by drafting paint manufacturers name and mixture number, and the gray ...

Modeling TB-HIV syndemic and treatment [PDF]
Tuberculosis (TB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be considered a deadly human syndemic. In this article, we formulate a model for TB and HIV transmission dynamics.
