Cyclooxygenases in reproductive medicine and biology
Journal of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, 1999This review focuses on the role of cyclooxygenases in reproductive medicine and biology. The cyclooxygenase enzymes catalysis the role-limiting reactions for prostaglandins and thromboxane synthesis. Two separate isoforms, COX-1 and COX-2, are present, and differences in their roles are discussed in the context of inflammation and parturition.
