Abortion Effects on Production, Reproductive Performance, and Health of Dairy Cattle

open access: yes
In order to investigate the consequences of abortions on dairy cattle performance, records from the software of seven dairy farms in Argentina were studied between February 2015 and June 2019.

Reproductive decisions in the lesser black-backed gull larus fuscus and their effects on reproductive success [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The effect of several fundamental reproductive 'decisions' upon reproductive success were examined over a three year period at a large, inland gullery in the Pennines.

The National Women's Health Study: assembly and description of a population-based reproductive cohort. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
BACKGROUND: Miscarriage is a common event but is remarkably difficult to measure in epidemiological studies. Few large-scale population-based studies have been conducted in the UK.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Photoperiod influence on the biology and phenological characteristics of Dichelops melacanthus (Dallas, 1851) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae)

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The influence of the photoperiod on the biology and seasonal morphs of Dichelops melacanthus (Dallas, 1851) was studied in the laboratory. Four different photoperiods (11, 12, 13, and 14 hL = hours of light) were tested, keeping the temperature at 25 ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effects of sodium butyrate supplementation on reproductive performance and colostrum composition in gilts

open access: yesAnimal, 2016
Nutrients are essential for the health and survival of human beings and animals. Also, they play a major role in enhancing reproductive efficiency.

The wild male mink as a sentinel for endocrine-disrupting chemicals and reproductive toxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Increasing evidence indicates that pollutants may affect the hormone system of humans and wildlife. These endocrine-disrupting chemicals are related to an increased risk of a variety of diseases and disorders, including adverse effects on the ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Management practices associated with reproductive performance in Holstein cows on large commercial dairy farms

open access: yesAnimal, 2018
As a result of the increase in herd size and the intensification of production, the complexity of reproductive management has been growing in dairy herds.
