Accurate Alternative Measurements for Female Lifetime Reproductive Success in Drosophila melanogaster.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Fitness is an individual's ability to survive and reproduce, and is an important concept in evolutionary biology. However, accurately measuring fitness is often difficult, and appropriate fitness surrogates need to be identified.

Spatial structure of reproductive success infers mechanisms of ungulate invasion in Nearctic boreal landscapes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Landscape change is a key driver of biodiversity declines due to habitat loss and fragmentation, but spatially shifting resources can also facilitate range expansion and invasion.

Biological and Management-Related Predictors of Reproductive Success in North American Ex Situ Asian Small-Clawed Otters (Aonyx cinereus)

open access: yesJournal of Zoological and Botanical Gardens, 2023
The long-term sustainability of ex situ animal populations requires coordination across facilities through cooperative breeding programs. Here, we investigate the reasons for inconsistent reproductive success in the zoo-based North American Asian small ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Factors influencing territorial occupancy and reproductive success in a Eurasian Eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) population. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Modelling territorial occupancy and reproductive success is a key issue for better understanding the population dynamics of territorial species. This study aimed to investigate these ecological processes in a Eurasian Eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) population in ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Divorce Rates Better Predict Population‐Level Reproductive Success in Little Penguins Than Foraging Behaviour or Environmental Factors

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Understanding the relative contributions of environmental, behavioural and social factors to reproductive success is crucial for predicting population dynamics of seabirds.

Hunter-Gatherer Social Networks and Reproductive Success

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Individuals’ centrality in their social network (who they and their social ties are connected to) has been associated with fertility, longevity, disease and information transmission in a range of taxa.
