Sense and Nonsense in Metabolic Control of Reproduction

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2012
An exciting synergistic interaction occurs among researchers working at the interface of reproductive biology and energy homeostasis. Reproductive biologists benefit from the theories, experimental designs, and methodologies used by experts on energy ...

Circadian regulation of reproduction: From gamete to offspring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
P01326625; Grants: GNT0519315Few challenges are more critical to the survival of a species than reproduction. To ensure reproductive success, myriad aspects of physiology and behaviour need to be tightly orchestrated within the animal, as well as timed ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Implications of inflorescence clustering for the visitation rate by hummingbirds and fruit production by Heliconia bihai (L.) L. (Heliconiaceae)

open access: yesBiotemas, 2015
Plant spatial distribution can influence the activity of floral visitors. Flower clustering in patches may be more attractive to visitors and it supposedly influences the fruit production.

Maternal health status correlates with nest success of leatherback sea turtles (Dermochelys coriacea) from Florida. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Of the seven sea turtle species, the critically endangered leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) exhibits the lowest and most variable nest success (i.e., hatching success and emergence success) for reasons that remain largely unknown.

Could the reproductive system explain the stability and long-term persistence in a natural hybrid zone of Petunia (Solanaceae)?

open access: yesActa Botânica Brasílica, 2022
The long-term success of populations is dependent on individual reproductive success, and in general, increased population size and genetic diversity contribute to population maintenance, reducing the risk of local extinction. Interspecific hybridization

Reproductive performance parameters in a large population of game-ranched white rhinoceroses (Ceratotherium simum simum) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The population of free-roaming white rhinoceroses (Ceratotherium simum) is under serious threat. Captive breeding of this species is therefore becoming more important, but this is challenging and often not successful.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

REPRODUCTIVE SUCCESS IN HATCHERY-PRODUCED EASTERN OYSTER, CRASSOSTREA VIRGINICA (GMELIN) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica Gmelin 1791) has great ecological and economic importance but populations have declined, especially in Chesapeake Bay, to historically low numbers.
