A Bayesian reevaluation of randomized controlled trials in assisted reproductive technology: quantifying evidence strength for null and alternative hypotheses

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
IntroductionMany randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in assisted reproductive technology (ART) face widespread misinterpretation of statistically non-significant results within the conventional frequentist framework.

Improving Fertility in Non-obstructive Azoospermia: Results from an Autologous Bone Mar-row-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal/Stem Cell Phase I Clinical Trial [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fertility and Sterility
Background: In this phase I clinical trial, our primary objective was to develop an innovative therapeutic approachutilizing autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (BM-MSCs) for the treatment of nonobstructiveazoospermia (NOA ...

Assisted Reproduction Technology and Perinatal Outcomes: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Zanān, Māmā̓ī va Nāzā̓ī-i Īrān, 2017
Introduction: Approximately 9% of couples worldwide face with infertility problem in some period of their life. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is a common choice of treatment for many infertile couples that its case is male or female factor, or ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Side Effects of Catheter-Specific Intrauterine Insemination in Infertile Couples, a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2022
Introduction: Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the assisted reproductive techniques, which increases the likelihood of egg being exposed to sperm in the uterus and thus the chances of pregnancy.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
