Reproductive Traits Associated with Oxygen Consumption

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1973
Abstract Hen-day production and hatchability of fertile eggs were investigated in high and low oxygen lines previously described by MacLaury and Johnson (Poultry Sci. 51: 591–597, 1972). After significant separation of the lines in 1965 both measures were significantly higher in the high oxygen line.

Genetics and genomics of reproductive performance in dairy and beef cattle

open access: yesAnimal, 2014
Excellent reproductive performance in both males and females is fundamental to profitable dairy and beef production systems. In this review we undertook a meta-analysis of genetic parameters for female reproductive performance across 55 dairy studies or ...

Reproductive traits of pigs of Mangalitsa breed

open access: yesActa agriculturae Slovenica. Suplement, 2013
The aim of this study was to investigate the reproductive traits of sows of Swallow Belly Mangalitsa breed. The study was conducted in two herds (Herd 1 and 2) in which the pigs were grown in extensive conditions. The analysis covered reproductive characteristics of 53 sows in the first four parities (n = 129 litters).

Genetic relationship between milk urea nitrogen and reproductive performance in Holstein dairy cows

open access: yesAnimal, 2011
The objective of this study was to describe the genetic and phenotypic relationship between milk urea nitrogen (MUN) and reproductive traits in Iranian Holstein dairy cows. Test-day MUN data obtained from 57 301 dairy cows on 20 large dairy herds in Iran

Heterosis of growth and reproductive traits in fowl

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2002
Long-term divergent selection for high (HH) and low (LL) BW at 56 d of age in White Plymouth Rock chickens resulted in deviations from a typical chronological timeline for reproductive development. Line HH chickens of the 42nd generation of selection (S(42)) were heavier at 28, 56, 168, and 266 d of age, as well as at sexual maturity than those from ...

Exploring the non-genetic factors that affect reproduction traits of Saanen Goats in Indonesia

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2023
Adjustment of trait records for different non-genetic factors increases the accuracy of genetic parameters and enables more accurate selection. This study aimed to investigate the non-genetic factors affecting reproductive traits in Saanen goats at the ...

Effects of Simulated Nitrogen Deposition and Micro-Environment on the Functional Traits of Two Rare and Endangered Fern Species in a Subtropical Forest

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Although the effects of N deposition on forest plants have been widely reported, few studies have focused on rare and endangered fern species (REFs). Information is also lacking on the effects of micro-environments on REFs. We investigated the effects of

Estimates of genetic and phenotypic parameters for reproductive traits in Iranian native Kordi sheep

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2017
The data set for estimation of genetic and phenotypic parameters of reproductive traits in Kordi sheep were collected from 1996 to 2013. The reproductive traits included age at first lambing (AFL), number of lambs born (NLB/EL) and weaned (NLW/EL) per ...

Genetic associations between reproductive and linear-type traits of Holstein cows in Brazil

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia
This study aimed to estimate heritability, genetic, and residual correlations between reproductive traits such as age at first calving, calving interval, dry period, and first service period and linear type traits measured in Holstein cows born between ...

Reproductive efficiency and milk yield in Sindhi breed cattle

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2020
The aim of this study was to identify the average of productive and reproductive traits in Red Sindhi females and evaluate if there is an influence of the reproductive traits on milk yield in this breed. Data related to reproductive and productive traits
