Domestic Violence and Birth Control Sabotage: A Report From The Teen Parent Project [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Although recent research has contributed greatly to our knowledge of teen pregnancy and the conditions under which girls become parents, the relationship between teen girls' ability to control their reproductive behavior and the prevalence of domestic ...

Work and reproduction.

open access: yesCanadian family physician Medecin de famille canadien, 2013
This article presents a short overview of the area of work effects on reproduction. Much speculation and confusion exist in this area of the relationship between the physical and social effects of work and the health of the elements of reproduction. Fulfilling the need for increased resources for research in this challenging and interesting area is ...

[Reproductive or domestic work].

open access: yesGaceta sanitaria, 2004
The objective of this article is to describe the evolution of reproductive work and to analyse those factors related to its distribution. The analysis has been based on data from various Time-use Surveys (Women Institute 1993, 1996, 2001) as well as on data from different regional surveys: Andalusia, the Basque Country, Madrid and the metropolitan area

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

What research evidence is required on violence against women to inform future pandemic preparedness? A scoping review of the research evidence and gaps

open access: yesBMJ Global Health
Introduction Violence against women (VAW) during the COVID-19 pandemic was described as the ‘shadow pandemic’ with an increase in reports of VAW. As countries now focus on becoming more resilient to future pandemics, it is critical to understand what we ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Reorienting development: towards and engendered employment strategy [PDF]

open access: yes
Development strategies, in the name of gender-neutral, are gender-blind. The gender blindness of development strategies are derived from the gender-insensitiveness of dominant development paradigms, which, in the name of work, do not make any distinction
