Magnetic Micro‐ and Nanorobots for Precision Thrombolysis: Design Strategies and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Micro‐ and nanorobots for targeted thrombolysis. This perspective elaborates on the clinical indication of blood clot disorders and current limitations for treatment. As a novel, alternative solution, micro‐ and nanorobots can be used to treat and break down thrombi.

Segmentation with Pairwise Attraction and Repulsion

open access: yes, 2008
We propose a method of image segmentation by integrating pairwise attraction and directional repulsion derived from local grouping and figure-ground cues.

Scaling laws for migrating cloud of low-Reynolds-number particles with Coulomb repulsion

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate the evolution of spherical clouds of charged particles that migrate under the action of a uniform external electrostatic field. Hydrodynamic interactions are modelled by Oseen equations and the Coulomb repulsion is calculated through ...

Nonreciprocal Swarmalators With Reconfigurable and Controllable Formations for Robot Collectives

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Nonreciprocal swarmalator interactions are enabled through control barrier functions to transform self‐organizing robot collectives into reconfigurable, constraint‐aware systems. Complex two‐ and three‐dimensional shapes, continuous morphing, obstacle‐aware navigation, collective splitting, and object transport emerge from modulating agent‐level ...

Miyazaki Vermin Repulsion Robot and Its Adjustable Acousto-Optic Stimulus Generation Scheme

open access: yesApplied Sciences
One of the most pressing issues in livestock farming is the protection of economically valuable livestock. The prevention and the treatment of infectious diseases are directly related to maintaining stable livestock output.

Feature-based attention influences contextual interactions during motion repulsion

open access: yes, 2006
Visual perception is strongly shaped by the spatial context in which stimuli are presented. Using center-surround configurations with oriented stimuli, recent studies suggest that voluntary attention critically determines which stimuli in the surround ...

Bio‐Inspired Object Retrieval via Proximity‐Guided Adaptive Thigmotactic Exploration and Neuromorphic Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Sparse active‐infrared proximity sensing is coupled to an adaptive thigmotactic controller for camera‐inaccessible object retrieval. After grasping, receptor‐informed encoding transforms force, temperature, and wrist force–torque signals into spike trains for spiking neural network recognition.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

Synergistic Spin‐Polarization and Single‐Atom Engineering in Magnetic Heterojunctions for Efficient Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput screening led to the identification of 67 Z‐scheme heterojunctions (comprising 2D magnetic transition metal halides and non‐magnetic transition metal chalcogenides). For CrI3/MoTe2 and CrI3/WTe2, electronic structure analysis demonstrated that synergistic crystallographic point group and built‐in electric field effects generate a ...

Integrating Machine Learning With Constant‐Potential Simulation to Unravel Charge‐Transfer Mechanisms in Electrochemical Nitrogen Fixation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrating interpretable machine learning with the fixed‐potential method reveals a novel mechanism: the catalytic activity of the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction is governed by partial charge transfer, induced by variations in the intermediate potential of zero charge under constant potential.
