Adaptive Supramolecular Interactions Govern Redox‐Active Molecules in Aqueous Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Adaptive supramolecular interactions overcome the solubility‐stability trade‐off in aqueous redox flow batteries. Hydrophobic anions disrupt intrinsic π–π stacking to enable high solubility, while redox‐state‐dependent spin pairing and cation coordination dynamically stabilize reactive intermediates during operation.

The Effects of Segmentation and Spatial Geometry on the Tilt Illusion

open access: yesi-Perception, 2012
In the tilt illusion, when the orientation of the center and surround gratings differ by a small angle, the center grating appears to tilt away from the surround orientation (repulsion); however, for a large difference in angle, the center appears to ...

Using a Zero‐Strain Reference Electrode to Distinguish Anode and Cathode Volume Changes in a Solid‐State Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Volume changes of a solid‐state battery cell are separated into the individual contributions of anode and cathode. Simultaneously determining the “reaction volumes” of both electrodes requires a reference electrode with a pressure‐independent potential.

Emergence and characterization of attraction in a dynamic Hubbard model

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Dynamic Hubbard Model (DHM) has been introduced as a framework for the electron-hole asymmetry observed in materials like high-temperature superconductors.

Design of High‐Energy Anode for All‐Solid‐State Lithium Batteries–A Model with Borohydride‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study proposes a function‐sharing anode design to enable nonmetallic lithium insertion while maintaining intimate interfacial contact with the solid‐state electrolyte. A combination of lithium‐compatible and conformable borohydrides, highly conformable indium metal, less‐graphitized acetylene black, and a layer of highly graphitized massive ...

Diffusion limited aggregation and the fractal evolution of gene promoter networks [PDF]

open access: yesNetwork Biology, 2011
Gene promoter networks (GPNs) are systems-level representations of the base pair-sharing relationships (graph edges) among promoters (graph nodes). It has been shown in the bacterium E.

Pauli Repulsion-Induced Expansion and Electromechanical Properties of Graphene

open access: yes, 2016
Because graphene has nearly zero density of states at the Dirac point, charging it must overcome Pauli repulsion. We show here that this repulsion causes graphene to expand, which is measurable with an optical edge-tracking method despite that graphene ...
