Resazurin-based assay for screening bacteria for radiation sensitivity [PDF]

open access: yesSpringerPlus, 2013
We report a simple and efficient colorimetric method to screen large numbers of bacterial strains for UV- and X-radiation sensitivity. We used reference radiation-sensitive and control strains of Escherichia coli K-12 to compare our colorimetric method to a standard clonogenic plating method.

Impact of season of harvest on in vitro gas production and dry matter degradability of Acacia saligna leaves with inoculum from three ruminant species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In vitro gas production (IVGP) and dry matter degradability (IVDMD) of Acacia saligna leaves (ASL) from four seasons were studied under arid Egyptian conditions as a 4×3 factorial experiment (4 seasons×3 ruminant species).

Studies on the Resazurin Test

open access: yesNihon Chikusan Gakkaiho, 1957
1. In the macroscopic resazurin test, an quality inspection of milk could be done by the “one hour test” in which the color change was divided into 7 degrees.2. When 1cc of 1% formalin was added to a test sample, the reduction time was shortened and it took almost 15 min.

Aufbau eines Bioraffineriekonzeptes für Biertreber mit vorgelagertem Pressschritt Development of a Biorefinery Concept for Brewers' Spent Grain with a Preliminary Pressing Step

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 91, Issue 11, Page 1606-1614, November 2019., 2019

The Mycobacterium tuberculosis CRISPR‐Associated Cas1 Involves Persistence and Tolerance to Anti‐Tubercular Drugs

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Even if new antitubercular drugs are currently being developed, the rapid emergence and spread of drug‐resistant strain remain a severe challenge. The CRISPR associated proteins 1 (Cas1), a most conserved endonuclease which is responsible for spacer integration into CRISPR arrays, was ...

Changes in the expression of genes that regulate apoptosis as a factor in the development of chemoresistance in soft tissue sarcoma

open access: yesУспехи молекулярной онкологии
Introduction. The active use of highly toxic chemotherapy in the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas determines the need to search for criteria and markers of chemoresistance of patients to the therapy.Aim.

Protection of biofilms against toxic shocks by the adsorption and desorption capacity of carriers in anaerobic fluidized bed reactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Erworben im Rahmen der Schweizer Nationallizenzen (http://www.nationallizenzen.ch)The aim of this study was to select a support medium for an anaerobic biofilm fluidized bed reactor (AFBR) for waste water treatment.

Hydrogenotrophic Methanogenesis and Autotrophic Growth of Methanosarcina thermophila

open access: yesArchaea, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Although Methanosarcinales are versatile concerning their methanogenic substrates, the ability of Methanosarcina thermophila to use carbon dioxide (CO2) for catabolic and anabolic metabolism was not proven until now. Here, we show that M. thermophila used CO2 to perform hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis in the presence as well as in the absence of ...

Hypoxic 3D in vitro culture models reveal distinct resistance processes to TKIs in renal cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of hypoxia on axitinib and sorafenib-treated renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cells. Hypoxia is a crucial factor influencing transcription process via protein modulation, which was shown i.e.

Dual gene activation and knockout screen reveals directional dependencies in genetic networks. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Understanding the direction of information flow is essential for characterizing how genetic networks affect phenotypes. However, methods to find genetic interactions largely fail to reveal directional dependencies. We combine two orthogonal Cas9 proteins
