A Proline‐Integrated Donor–Acceptor Fluorophore: Water‐Vapor‐Responsive Mechanochromic Luminescence and Latent Fingerprint Visualization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A proline‐integrated donor–acceptor fluorophore enables multifunctional luminescence through rational molecular design. Water‐vapor‐responsive mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) switching and efficient visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) are realized from this single small organic molecule.

Data‐Efficient Electromagnetic Surrogate Solver Through Dissipative Relaxation Transfer Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Dissipative relaxation transfer learning (DIRTL) enables data‐efficient training of electromagnetic surrogate solvers by pretraining data generated with artificial material loss before fine‐tuning on target lossless data. The framework suppresses resonant outlier effects during early training, allowing effective adaptation to high‐amplitude resonances ...

Using Equalizers to Increase Data Rates in Organic Photonic Devices for Visible Light Communications Systems

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis proposes to marry two separate technologies together. The first technology is that of visible light communications (VLC), and the second is small molecule and polymer organic photonic devices.

Waveguide Geometry–Driven Trade‐Offs in Resonant Cavity Sensor Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Waveguide geometry governs the interplay between sensitivity, intrinsic Q‐factor, and wavelength noise in silicon nitride resonant sensors. Contrary to intuition, higher sensitivity does not ensure superior performance. Low‐noise, high‐Q ridge resonators achieve the lowest detection limits, revealing that detection is ultimately constrained by noise ...

Ambient backscatter assisted wireless powered communications

open access: yes, 2018
Ambient backscatter communication technology has been introduced recently, and is quickly becoming a promising choice for self-sustainable communication systems, as an external power supply or a dedicated carrier emitter is not required.

Bridging Boltzmann and Non‐Boltzmann Optical Thermometry Enabled by Multimodal Perovskite Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal perovskite nanocrystals enable optical thermometry across multiple excitation and emission regimes, spanning the UV–Vis–NIR spectral range. By combining upconversion, downshifting, and persistent luminescence, the platform bridges conventional Boltzmann and non‐Boltzmann thermometric approaches.
