Risk bounds for reservoir computing

open access: yesCoRR, 2019
We analyze the practices of reservoir computing in the framework of statistical learning theory. In particular, we derive finite sample upper bounds for the generalization error committed by specific families of reservoir computing systems when processing discrete-time inputs under various hypotheses on their dependence structure. Non-asymptotic bounds

Chemical Maturation Controls Bioavailability of Fetuin‐A‐Mineral Complexes in Biomineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of Fetuin‐A‐mineral complexes in matrix mineralization is unclear. Here, Fetuin‐A‐mineral complexes were found to exist in functionally distinct states that determine mineral bioavailability: chemically labile calciprotein monomers directly mineralize collagen fibrils, while chemically matured primary calciprotein particles require cellular ...

Bioinspired Hierarchically Interconnected Supermacroporous Hydrogels via Dual‐Templating for Rapid Atmospheric Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by lung alveolar architecture, a dual‐templating strategy combining CO2 bubble and ice templating creates mechanically robust super‐macroporous hydrogels with highly interconnected transport pathways. The resulting material achieves 3.37× faster moisture sorption and 1.72× higher solar‐driven water release than single‐templated counterparts ...

Hierarchical Memcapacitive Reservoir Computing Architecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The quest for novel computing architectures is currently driven by (1) machine learning applications and (2) the need to reduce power consumption. To address both needs, we present a novel hierarchical reservoir computing architecture that relies on ...

Directed evolution effectively selects for DNA based physical reservoir computing networks capable of multiple tasks

open access: yesNeuromorphic Computing and Engineering
DNA and other biopolymers are being investigated as new computing substrates and alternative to silicon-based digital computers. However, the established top–down design of biomolecular interaction networks remains challenging and does not fully exploit ...

Implantable Ionic Memristors Based on Natural Polymer Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report an implantable natural polymer‐based ionic memristor composed of hyaluronic acid, chitosan, and PDMS. The device achieved 98.94% accuracy in MNIST classification while reducing training time by 36.8% compared with a conventional artificial neural network (ANN).

Robust Interlayer Exciton Interplay in a Twisted van der Waals Heterotrilayer on a Broadband Bragg Reflector up to Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we highlight a unique material platform capable of producing three distinct room temperature (RT) photoluminescence (PL) resonances from spatially separated regions composed of a heterobilayer (HBL), a homobilayer (HoBL), and an heterotrilayer (HTL) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures configuration on a highly ...
