Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Prevalence Projection in 2040: A Less Rare Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To project ALS prevalence across multiple countries through 2040, accounting for both population aging and increased survival. Methods Data from the Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta ALS register (PARALS) was used to estimate the trends in incidence and prevalence from 2005 to 2019. Survival trends over this period were also assessed.

A Geometrical Model for Stagnant Motion in Hamiltonian Systems with Many Degrees of Freedom

open access: yes, 1998
We introduce a model of Poincar\'e mappings which represents hierarchical structure of phase spaces for systems with many degrees of freedom. The model yields residence time distribution of power type, hence temporal correlation remains long.

Portable Low‐Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging in People With Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The aging population of people with HIV (PWH) raises heightened concerns regarding accelerated aging and dementia. Portable, low‐field MRI (LF‐MRI) is an innovative technology that could enhance access and facilitate routine monitoring of PWH.

The lifetime of cosmic rays in the Milky Way [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The most reliable method to estimate the residence time of cosmic rays in the Galaxy is based on the study of the suppression, due to decay, of the flux of unstable nuclei such as beryllium-10, that have lifetime of appropriate duration.

Use of Symptomatic Drug Treatment for Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis and Patterns of Work Loss

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To describe the use of central stimulants and amantadine for fatigue in MS and evaluate a potential association with reduced work loss in people with MS. Methods We conducted a nationwide, matched, register‐based cohort study in Sweden (2006 to 2023) using national registers with prospective data collection.

First exit times and residence times for discrete random walks on finite lattices

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, we derive explicit formulas for the surface averaged first exit time of a discrete random walk on a finite lattice. We consider a wide class of random walks and lattices, including random walks in a non-trivial potential landscape. We also

Cognitive Status in People With Epilepsy in the Republic of Guinea: A Prospective, Case–Control Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective People with epilepsy (PWE) may experience cognitive deficits but fail to undergo formal evaluation. This study compares cognitive status between PWE and healthy controls in the West African Republic of Guinea. Methods A cross‐sectional, case–control study was conducted in sequential recruitment phases (July 2024–July 2025) at Ignace ...

In‐Depth Profiling Highlights the Effect of Efgartigimod on Peripheral Innate and Adaptive Immune Cells in Myasthenia Gravis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by antibody‐mediated complement activation. Efgartigimod, a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) antagonist, is approved for treating generalized MG (gMG). However, its modulatory effects on upstream innate and adaptive immune cells remain largely unexplored.

Transient Traceability Analysis of Land Carbon Storage Dynamics: Procedures and Its Application to Two Forest Ecosystems

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2017
Uptake of anthropogenically emitted carbon (C) dioxide by terrestrial ecosystem is critical for determining future climate. However, Earth system models project large uncertainties in future C storage.
