Displaced Bodies in Residual Spaces
Public Culture, 2005Simon Leung teaches in the Department of Studio Art at the University of California, Irvine. His work has been presented at the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and the Museum of Modern Art. He is the author of “Site-Specificity en Abyme,” in Surface Tension (2003), and coeditor of Theory in Contemporary Art since 1985 (2004).

Displacement residual based DDM matching algorithm
Science China Information Sciences, 2012High level architecture (HLA) is the prevailing standard for modeling and simulation. The data distribution management (DDM) service of HLA is defined for reducing the delivery of irrelevant data. The key in DDM implementation is the region overlap computation, i.e. the matching between update and subscription regions.

On the Displaced Lattice Charge and Residual Resistivity
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1975We have used the method of lattice statics to perform microscopic calculations of the displaced lattice charge far away from an impurity in an alkali metal. The displaced charge is then used to determine with the aid of the continuum approximation the change in solid structure factor and from it to estimate the correction to the residual resistivity ...

Study of displacement and residual displacement field of an interface crack by moire interferometry
Second International Conference on Photomechanics and Speckle Metrology: Speckle Techniques, Birefringence Methods, and Applications to Solid Mechanics; Moiré Techniques, Holographic Interferometry, Optical NDT, and Applications to Fluid Mechanics, 1991Moire interferometry was used to study the deformation field and the residual deformation field around a crack laying along the interface of the adhesive layer and the adherend of graphite epoxy composite. Two steps of the experiment were carried on. First, the specimen was loaded in four levels and the fringe patterns are recorded for analyzing the in-

This is the second and final part of an article on determining maximum residual ground displacement from velocimeter records. Part 1 of the article considers methods for calibrating velocimeters; Part 2, methods for assessing and reconstructing velocimeter records of irreversible deformations occurring in the epicentral zone after destructive ...

Probabilistic Characteristics of Residual Displacements of SDOF Systems
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013Probabilistic residual displacement analysis plays an important role in determination of technical or economical feasibility of repairing the damaged emgineering structures after an earthquake. Probabilistic characteristics of residual displacements of SDOF systems were quantificationally investigated in this study through a comprehensive statistical ...

Mechanisms of Residual Oil Displacement by Steam Injection
SPE Reservoir Engineering, 1987SummaryIn an attempt to isolate various thermal and hydrodynamic mechanisms, a model of one-dimensional (1D) steam displacement of residual oil has been developed. The quasisteady model considers capillary pressure gradients and gravity forces during the simultaneous flow of oil, water, and steam to be the dominant factors in oil-bank mobilization.

Acute and residual neuromuscular effects of displacement in indirect vibratory stimulation
Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, 2021The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of indirect vibratory stimulation on different magnitudes of displacement on acute and residual neuromuscular responses. Fifteen healthy volunteers were randomly submitted to 3 experimental sessions, with intervals of 5 to 7 days (5 maximal voluntary contractions - MVC, 12 s of duration each and 5 min of

Residual displacements of RC structures as SDOF systems
Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 2014SummaryResidual displacements are sensitive to ground motion details, hence more random than peak inelastic displacements. Among the factors with systematic impact on residual displacements, the post‐yield‐stiffness‐ratio has been studied thoroughly; its effects are not investigated further. Concerning another important factor, the hysteresis law, past
