Impact of residual renal function on dialysis adequacy in paediatric CAPD patients
This study was designed to determine the impact of residual renal function (RRF) on dialysis adequacy indices and clinical outcome parameters in paediatric CAPD patients. Seventeen children on CAPD were included.

Residual renal function at the start of dialysis and clinical outcomes [PDF]
This study evaluates the association between estimated GFR (eGFR) at the start of dialysis and mortality within Europe.Renal registries participating in the ERA-EDTA Registry were asked to provide data on serum creatinine recorded 0-4 weeks before the start of dialysis in incident dialysis patients in 1999 and 2003.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Will Incremental Hemodialysis Preserve Residual Function and Improve Patient Survival? [PDF]
The progressive loss of residual renal function in peritoneal dialysis patients is associated with increased mortality. It has been suggested that incremental dialysis may help preserve residual renal function and improve patient survival. Residual renal

Anemia Is a Predictor of Withdrawal from Peritoneal Dialysis in Stable Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
Introduction: The association between anemia and peritoneal dialysis (PD) withdrawal in patients with stable PD remains poorly established. Herein, we investigated the relationship between anemia and PD withdrawal in patients with stable PD.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Impact of heavy proteinuria on clinical outcomes in patients on incident peritoneal dialysis
Background There are few reports on the nutritional status changes and residual renal function (RRF) according to proteinuria levels in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). Methods A total of 388 patients on PD were enrolled.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
