CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Contribution of Residual Renal Function on Peritoneal Solute Transport in Dialysis Patients

open access: yes, 2010
<i>Background:</i> Increased peritoneal solute transport rate (PSTR) is primarily a consequence of continuous exposure to bioincompatible glucose-based peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions.

Sex-Specific Impact of Roxadustat on Residual Kidney Function in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients: A Propensity Score-Weighted Analysis

open access: yesKidney Medicine
Rationale & Objective: Roxadustat effectively improves renal anemia, but its impact on residual kidney function (RKF) preservation in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients is unclear.

Residual Kidney Function in Hemodialyzed Patients and Related Factors

open access: yesErciyes Medical Journal, 2019
Objective: Residual kidney function (RKF) is a strong marker of the remaining capacity of the kidneys in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Residual renal function in hemodialysis patients may protect against hyperaluminemia

open access: yes, 1987
Residual renal function in hemodialysis patients may protect against hyperaluminemia. We investigated 106 home hemodialysis patients whose mean [±SEM] serum aluminum (A1) concentration was 60.9 ± 4.1 µg/liter. Serum A1 concentration was inversely related

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Predictors of Faster Decline of Residual Renal Function in Taiwanese Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yes, 2011
OBJECTIVE: Loss of residual renal function (RRF) in peritoneal dialysis ( PD) patients is a powerful predictor of mortality. The present study was conducted to determine the predictors of faster decline of RRF in PD patients in Taiwan. METHODS: The study

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
