The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Experimental validation of electrical models of residual voltage test circuits in lightning rods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This dissertation proposes the adoption of an electric model for residual voltage tests in zinc oxide (ZnO) arresters for standardized and non-standardized waveforms, using models of lightning already consolidated in the literature.

Susceptibility of LED street lamps to voltage dips [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
There is an ongoing transition from high-pressure sodium lamps to LED street lamps that offer higher efficiency, cost saving and better photometric performance. This transition could lead to unintended consequences such as light flicker and extinguishing

Power Efficient Voltage Regulation System for Improved Power Generation in Wind Mills [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The power distribution systems with the wind energy backup have been well studied. There exist number of approaches in regulating required voltage for the electrical devices which uses only few parameters like number of connections, number of devices and

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Voltage dip detection with half cycle window RMS values and aggregation of short events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper presents the results of the analysis on the 2 data window lengths adopted in instruments for the detection of voltage dips (sags). The first one is commonly applied which use one cycle window to calculate the RMS value of residual voltage, the

Calculation model by Voronoi network and verification of zinc oxide varistor considering conduction mechanism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering & Science
This paper investigates the impact of the microstructure of zinc oxide varistor ceramics on their electrical properties. The microstructure of varistor was characterized by Voronoi network, and the relationship between microstructure and electrical ...

Optimization Method for Combination of Residual Current Protection and Coincidence Brake Logic in a Low-Voltage Distribution System

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
Low-voltage distribution systems frequently experience leakage current accidents. However, it is challenging to distinguish fault characteristics in abnormal operating conditions, such as electric shock to biological organisms and three-phase imbalance ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
