Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Selection for resistance to cacao Moniliasis assisted by molecular markers : S04P06 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The basidiomycete Moniliophthora rorer, the etiological agent of Moniliasis, reaches cacao plantations (Theobroma cacao) in Central and South Americas, but its occurrence is still not registered in Brazil .

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Evolutionary plant breeding for low input systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Heritable variation is at the heart of the process of evolution. However, variation is restricted in breeding for uniform crop populations using the pedigree line approach. Pedigree lines are successful in agriculture because synthetic inputs are used to

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

The ZmHSF08-ZmUGT92A1 module regulates heat tolerance by altering reactive oxygen species levels in maize

open access: yesCrop Journal
GTs (Glycosyltransferases) are important in plant growth and abiotic stresses. However, its role in maize heat response is far from clear. Here, we describe the constitutively expressed UDP-glycosyltransferase ZmUGT92A1, which has a highly conserved PSPG

Societal Costs of Late Blight in Potato and Prospects of Durable Resistance Through Cisgenic Modification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In the European Union almost 6 Mha of potatoes are grown representing a value of close to ¿6,000,000,000. Late blight caused by Phytophthora infestans causes annual losses (costs of control and damage) estimated at more than ¿1,000,000,000.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

The Mitochondrial Protein RESISTANCE to APHIDS 9 Interacts with S40 to Resist Aphid Infestation by Modulating Reactive Oxygen Species Homeostasis in Maize (Zea mays)

open access: yesAdvanced Science
As the corn aphid (Rhopalosiphum maidis) poses a major threat to maize (Zea mays) growth, there is much interest in identifying aphid resistance genes. In this study, an aphid‐susceptible maize mutant from an ethyl methanesulfonate–mutagenized library is

Evaluation and Mapping of a Leaf Rust Resistance Gene Derived from Hordeum vulgare subsp. spontaneum

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2004
Studies of marker development were performed on a doubled haploid population derived from the cross of a highly resistant line H. spontaneum 677 × Krona (susceptible).
