Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

The Maize NBS-LRR Gene ZmNBS25 Enhances Disease Resistance in Rice and Arabidopsis
Nucleotide-binding site-leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) domain proteins are immune sensors and play critical roles in plant disease resistance. In this study, we cloned and characterized a novel NBS-LRR gene ZmNBS25 in maize.

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

How phagocytic cells kill bacteria: Lessons from a professional killer
How phagocytic cells ingest and kill bacteria has been studied for more than a century, but many questions remain unanswered. The study of the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum brings new answers, and new questions. Professional phagocytic cells such as neutrophils and macrophages, as well as free‐living soil amoebae like Dictyostelium discoideum, employ

Heat stress has emerged as one of the major environmental factors constraining rice growth. In our previous studies, OsPUP1, a member of the purine transporter protein family in rice, has been verified to be involved in the transport of cytokinin (CK ...

As the corn aphid (Rhopalosiphum maidis) poses a major threat to maize (Zea mays) growth, there is much interest in identifying aphid resistance genes. In this study, an aphid‐susceptible maize mutant from an ethyl methanesulfonate–mutagenized library is

GTs (Glycosyltransferases) are important in plant growth and abiotic stresses. However, its role in maize heat response is far from clear. Here, we describe the constitutively expressed UDP-glycosyltransferase ZmUGT92A1, which has a highly conserved PSPG

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.
