Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Spanning 2-forests and resistance distance in 2-connected graphs [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2018
A spanning 2-forest separating vertices $u$ and $v$ of an undirected connected graph is a spanning forest with 2 components such that $u$ and $v$ are in distinct components.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

The Effect of the Distance from the Size Press to the First Drier on Sheet Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
It is the purpose of this thesis to attempt to evaluate the effect of the distance from the size press to the first drier on penetration and sheet properties.

Improving information centrality of a node in complex networks by adding edges

open access: yes, 2018
The problem of increasing the centrality of a network node arises in many practical applications. In this paper, we study the optimization problem of maximizing the information centrality $I_v$ of a given node $v$ in a network with $n$ nodes and $m ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Nordhaus-Gaddum-Type Results for Resistance Distance-Based Graph Invariants

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2016
Two decades ago, resistance distance was introduced to characterize “chemical distance” in (molecular) graphs. In this paper, we consider three resistance distance-based graph invariants, namely, the Kirchhoff index, the additive degree-Kirchhoff index ...

Maximum Reciprocal Degree Resistance Distance Index of Unicyclic Graphs

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2020
The reciprocal degree resistance distance index of a connected graph G is defined as RDRG=∑u,v⊆VGdGu+dGv/rGu,v, where rGu,v is the resistance distance between vertices u and v in G. Let Un denote the set of unicyclic graphs with n vertices.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Cascading Failures in Power Grids - Analysis and Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper focuses on cascading line failures in the transmission system of the power grid. Recent large-scale power outages demonstrated the limitations of percolation- and epid- emic-based tools in modeling cascades.
