Self-Piercing Riveted Joints and Resistance Spot Welded Joints in Steel and Aluminium

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2000
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Self-piercing riveting and resistance spot welding are competing processes for joining sheet materials, typically 1 to 2mm thick, for the automotive industry. However, for these processes to be used with confidence, detailed performance data are required on which to base design guidelines.</div> <div class=

Corrosion behavior in aluminum/galvanized steel resistance spot welds and self-piercing riveting joints in salt spray environment

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2021
Abstract This paper underlined the corrosion behavior of aluminum alloy/galvanized steel joints fabricated by resistance spot welding (RSW) and self-piercing riveting (SPR) exposed to different salt-spray cycles. It was found that the crevice generated by different joining methods has an important impact on corrosion behavior.

Tests of the Resistance to Repeated Pressure of Forged, Riveted, and Welded Boiler Shells

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1931
Abstract Data regarding the performance of welded joints in resisting repeated stresses are very important in any consideration of the adoption of welded construction for power boilers, and it is the object of this paper to present such data. Comparative tests were made on (1) a standard A.S.M.E. riveted drum, (2) manganese-steel riveted
