A subconjunctival foreign body confused with uveal prolapse

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
There are cases in which the presence of a foreign body (FB) is difficult to diagnose based on history taking or clinical examination. We report a case of subconjunctival FB confused with uveal prolapse.

Synthesis and characterization of bulk and thin film antimony-selenium phase change alloys

open access: yes, 2008
Phase change alloys have recently gained increasing attention due to their application in developing phase change random memory (PRAM) devices, as Flash memory based devices are rapidly approaching their technological limitations.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Evaluation of Intrarenal Blood Flow by Doppler Ultrasonography Immediately after Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy on Hydronephrotic Kidney

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2005
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is an effective and relatively noninvasive mode of treatment for urinary calculi. The aim of this study was to test whether therapeutic ESWL induces changes in renal parenchymatous blood flow and to evaluate ...

Effects of oral propranolol on the resistive and pulsatility indices of major abdominal vasculatures in domestic short‐haired cats

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2023
Background No study has been performed regarding the effects of oral administration of propranolol on pulse‐wave spectral Doppler indices of major abdominal vessels in healthy adult cats. Objective The objective of this study was to assess the pulse‐wave

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An unusual combination of Unilateral Orbital Plexiform Neurofibroma in a patient with oculocutaneous albinism

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
A 70-year-old female patient presented with proptosis of right eye for the past 15 days and defective vision in both eyes since birth. She was found to have eccentric painful proptosis of right eye along with features of oculocutaneous albinism ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Hemodynamic Quantitative Analysis Based on Doppler Ultrasound for Arteriovenous Shunt Stenosis Screening

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Clinically, arteriovenous shunt (AVS) stenosis results in turbulent and pulsatile flow because of high resistance and pressure within a narrowed space inside a stenotic access.
